Could be your accelerator cable is frayed and sticking in its housing.my opel corsa idle rmp flactuate between 900 to 2000 when idleing and also on the road.
when on the road the it takes time to go back to 900 when i step on the clutch or when i come to the robots and stop
i have recently changed the petrol pump
Did the problem exist before the pump change; or did it start misbehaving after?
Also have Oi check basics like oil and oil filter, petrol filter and air cleaner?
Unlikely that that would be the cause, unless the crank shift position sensor has been damaged which would have other symptoms.it started after i changed the crankshaft

Your most likely cause us fuel like or air related, and as has been mentioned before it could be sucking more air from somewhere. Either way you need a patient mechanic with good fault finding skills.
