Hi

Recently out of the blue, a clunk when releasing clucth pedal.

I heard corsa c have linkage problems, but clutch operates smoothly,
just the noise, when I release normally.
I have to slow it down now,to ensure no noise.

Release bearing make rumbling wirring noise, so it cant be that.
what could it be?

Also when changing gears, I get the sense there is play in the drive train
because the is sometimes s space of time then I hear a clunk, and the
acceleration strarts happening.

Do Corsa C have problems with drive trains, diffs, hubs, drive shafts?

thanx/Pete

Drove corsa's since my first car, started on a corsa lite and then upgraded to a corsa 1.6 that I gave to my girlfriend and now drive a opc...but honestly cant say that with either of them have I had that issue, best you have it looked at by a proper garage

I am experiencing exactly the same noise when using the clutch on my Velociti. Very annoying.

I took the UTE into a local garage for a look-see.

They report rear geabox mounting and side gearbox mounting are the cause of the "space in time" issue.
R250 and R700 from goldwagen.

Clutch clunking diagnosis is still up in the air.

The clunk is the release bearing.
I realize now if I listen carefully, there is actually a very soft wirring noise.
Also, it only happens when the engine is on.

Do you often leave your foot on the clutch or keep the clutch depressed while waiting at a robot?

Could be that your release bearing is wearing out. I have 2 Corsa B's both 1.6 GSi and a 1.4 Lite, the GSi I have tortured, clutch depressed while waiting at robots, using the 1st gear clutch combo on a incline when I know the light will change in 30 seconds, stuff like that and the release bearing makes hell-of-lot of noise but after 3 years since it started making a noise it's still going strong so in my opinion you may as well ignore it.

I don't know about the mounting because the engine/gearbox mounting shouldn't be a issue unless tampered with, there are plenty of people driving Corsa B's with 2 Liter engines using the standard Corsa B mountings with years of no trouble, I doubt it would just break out of it's own accord, you'd have to have tampered or accident damaged it for it to be a problem.

Perhaps have a look at the gearbox oil, clutch change on a Corsa is very rare, it should only happen in very rare occasions. Your gearbox uses a hydraulic clutch so adjustment is not needed and I don't think the selector shaft linkage should a issue but you may want to check that it's still tight.

Clutch and gearbox (Getrag gearbox) on the Opel's aren't the smoothest but they are generally very strong , even the old 200tS there are still plenty around with perfect boxes and usually the thing that'll go in any case is the synchro on 1st or 2nd which is expected after years of abuse.
