Hi guys im having problems with my bakkie, its a 2008 model.I recently replaced the water pump..Iv just driven about 2000km with the new water pump but now last week on my way back from work my car started overheating.the is no leakage and the fan is working.what could be the problem?

Why was the pump replaced? Previous overheating?
Could be the thermostat that is stuck.
Detail when does it happen. Traffic/highway/after how long etc..

Im the 2nd owner.its the 1st time overheating since iv had it.The water pump was leaking thats why it was replaced and before the overheating accured, in traffic it would pass the 90degrees but as i drove it would slowly go back.it started overheating on my way back frm work like every 10min i would have to stop the car and wait for it to cool down which took abt 30min..havnt driven it since

i was going to say that theres air in the system, but you have driven it from 2kkms so i dont thing thats the problem.
the Stuck themostate does happen, u can remove it and drive the car for a couple of days to see it thats the problem. if it is, it is usually a cheap replacement part.

The fans usually have 2 phases to them, this might not be going into the 2nd phase and is causing the heating. im not sure how to test the switch to see if that is a fault, but again it is a cheap replacement part.

is the car taking any water?

Bad advice, Removing the thermostat can also cause over heating... And make the engine take a lot longer to reach operating temperature.Take it out and throw it into a pot with boiling water and see if it opens/moves. If not replace.
It probably is the thermostat by the sound of it.

Are you sure the fans are working? A broken wire or even a blocked radiator can cause the fans not to turn on. Of the water cannot reach the thermoswitch the fans won't switch on. Also check fuses for radiator fan as this could also cause this.

just an update it turns out the top gastket blew so i gt my mechanic to do the whole gasket and replaced the thermostat.everything seems to be working fine but i have one concern.when im in traffic the gauge goes over 90 a bit id say 94 ,5 then the fan goes on and brings it back to 90..my concern is is it normal when it goes above 90??shudnt it stay below at all times?

Sounds about normal. Just as some side info, If you think that the car is getting a bit too hot, put your heater on hottest. It draws heat out of the engine water.

Just one question is the radiator the original for this car?
could of been replaced at some time with a smaller unit?

Really sounds like a water flow problem radiator could be full of gunk.

im not sure if its the original or not will get it checked out asap..i hope this is not making any damages to my engine again
