CORSAIR Liquid CPU Cooler leaked.

So it just happened. My PC shut down, and after peeking inside I see fluid everywhere.

I bought the PC second hand a year or 2 ago, so no guarantees or anything.
Does anyone have experience with this? Do I dry everything, replace the cooler and see what still works?

Rinse with 90%+ alcohol (pharmacy sells the stuff),leave for a day or two and try it out.

Hopefully the fluid in the cooler is non-conductive. The stuff is in on the mobo battery, in the slots, on my graphics card...eish.

It's a liquid, if it's not conductive out of the box it probably will become conductive when it comes into contact with all the crap in the pc. But I am stunned at your luck, do you perhaps have one of the original Corsair H50 coolers? Without physical tampering the H80, H100 etc shouldn't leak at all? You're very unlucky

It's a H60. Hasn't been touched in ages. The daughter was doing some homework, then it switched off.
I restarted it, windows booted, and it switched off again. So hopefully it switched off because the CPU was getting too hot and not something else.

Damn, that sucks man, talk about bad luck. I hope I don't have to worry about something like this happening to my H100i GTX? Otherwise I hope the alcohol solution ponder suggested works. Good luck.

If you can get enough silica beads, you can drop the components into a container full of those, it will draw any moisture away from the components.

Otherwise you can use uncooked rice for the same thing (I used it for a phone I dropped in water, it worked).

I thought I'd just post back on what happened.

Cleaned the mobo and all affect parts with 99.9% alcohol (while resisting the temptation to try some).
Managed to bend some pins on the CPU socket, and then one snapped off when I was trying to fix it!!!

Figured I had nothing more to lose. So I stuck things back together, including the new Cooler Master Hyper 212X cooler.
And....everything works!

I even ran Intel's CPU diagnostic tool and everything is fine. It even runs at 40deg under load!

Now excuse me while I go and buy a lotto ticket!
