And ANC dont' care about the people (and people aka masses still vote for them). It's a sad "term" since JZ and chronies took over... they are fcking this country over and they laugh all the way to the bank...

Why is it so scary? Mining has for a long time now stopped being very important in SA. It is now just a legacy perception.
The old NP government were the worlds biggest proponents of Nationalisation, and they buggered it up completely. And it still didn't have that catastrophic consequences for SA. I'm not saying that this is a good decision. I'm just saying it is an irrelevant decision.
And what on earth doesn't it have to do with a certain ethnic group? It will effect a couple of famous families in SA, but they will still continue making money through the mines. Just less than previously.

I would actually be in favour of it IF we had a half honest / decent gouvernment. But under this one I will not trust them with my piggy bank....

Erm you do know if the gouvernment does proceed the world will not see it in this way. A couple of factors like we are an African country, we are neighbours to Zim (the international media will have a field day with that one), etc etc will be enough to drive investors away. Couple that to the fact that with the world economy as is and possibly getting "worse", the lowered risk appitite of investors might just be the killing blow.....

I said it the other day. What if we have another 200 000 job losses over the next three years because of the snowball effect that nationalisation might have?

Lets hope they don't f it up and lets hope they invest back into infrastructure/education system.

Nationalisation referred to state ownership of all means of production including mines, banks and mineral wealth.

you appear to have missed that other little five letter word in the statement, what do you think the impact of that will be, and would you be happy to put your money into a government run bank?
 
I am going to laugh when a few thousands of mineworkers all of a sudden find themselves without work ... I'll feel sorry for them but I'll laugh just the same.

Foreign investment is down 70% since 2009 in a global economic environment where there is tons of money flying around looking for decent yields. Regime uncertainty is wrecking SA's chances at prospering from this investment; nationalisation of any kind will just be a nail in the coffin.

It won't matter, me and my White imperialist skills and capital will leave the country. And I am pretty sure all the multinationals will pack up and take their rare skilled employees with them. So no more CA's / Mining Engineers / Other White imperialist skills. Good luck running more than a Spaza shop without the necessary skill base... South Africa will rot even quicker than Zimbabwe did as there wont be a South Africa for them to run to. I do feel sorry for the countries surrounding us though, if South Africa falls then so does Swaziland / Lesotho / Mozambique / Botswana / Namibia. I am not including Zimbabwe as seriously, can it get worse there?

Frankly I have never really cared about politics in this country but now it is making me consider whether I shouldn't get my passport ready, sell my house and shut down my business and move on to where they will appreciate my skills.

I can tell you now, the financial and business markets don't care in the slightest. Look at how the markets have reacted to the nationalisation talk. They haven't reacted in the slightest. In fact, they have been moving up. Mining in SA just doesn't matter anymore. Except in the minds of South Africans

Nationalising banks without compensation will require a 75% (not just a 2/3) vote to change the constitution. Not ever going to happen. So then it is Nationalisation with compensation. There isn't enough money for that.
What this will mean is a goverment run Bank (Just like we already have a government run airline, mining company, etc). And thats not such a bad thing. Who cares about it other than the whingers? It
