Just watched the first episode and was very disappointed.

Some stunning visuals but otherwise the content of this series seems to be aimed at either very small kids or very doff adults, cant decide which. Neil Degrasse Tyson appears to be trying too hard to talk in a friendly and storytelling way instead of his usual straightforward manner which i prefer. And then there are the cheesy animations, obviously pushed in by executive producer Seth Macfarlane.....

Cant understand how this has a 9.3 rating on IMDB...

That sucks. I saw a topic on IMDB about it being a bit "watered down". Either way it looks promising. I'm waiting for the Blu-ray release.

I also enjoy Through the Wormhole or 'Beyond the Wormhole'. Always a good and entertaining watch.

Have any of you actually watched Sagan's original series?

They're trying to reach the mind of the generation whom it matters to most. The first episode is also the introduction to the cosmos, the rest I'm sure will be much more in depth when it becomes topic-centred episodes.

Had my maids daughter(12) watch it today she seemed very impressed.

Just watched part 2, slightly better than the first but still not even close to the level of other modern documentaries such a through the worm hole. If through the worm hole is a 10 id give this a 7....

This weeks episode was pretty good. The animation of the atom is probably the coolest one I've seen yet.

I have the original and I watched all the new episodes so far. What a disappointment :( I am not sure Neil is the right presenter for this. Or he is trying to hard to be something he is not. It makes the entire thing look sooo fake. If the script does not suit the presenter (or the presenter does not suit the script), even a good idea turns into a boring presentation. I won't bother watching further. I will buy the series when released.
