I have just taken the plunge and ordered an ADSL line from Telkom as I do not as yet have 3G coverage in my area. I do need dial-up for when I travel.

My current dial-up ISP (Eject) wants R247 for a 3GB account plus another R74 for the standard internet access, totalling R323 per month. These are their new reduced prices as from April.

Telkom asks R249 for their 3GB Advanced offering which includes dialup.

Are their any better deals which I need to know about? I do not need web hosing or any of the other fancy services; just ADSL access, an e-mail account and dial-up for when I am travelling.

The Vodacom 3G offering would suit me fine, but the reception in my area is rated as 'average' which is bad news. The Vodacom techie says my area is rated at 15% coverage only.

To get the low-down on what ADSL ISP offerings are available, visit MaD's site aka www.Hellkom.co.za, there is a very comprehensive list of ISPs & prices ;).

Almost forgot, please come back here & I'm sure you'll get opinions...:)

I never knew this. So does Telkom allow you to dial in with your account the same time as you're connected to your ADSL? I'm getting ADSL for home but might still need to dial in from other places during the day so if I can connect both at once I'll save on having a separate dialup account. Can you do this?

Yep, but you need to have the correct 3GB ISP account, AFAIK you cannot do this on the 2GB ISP account, oh and you are obviously going to be ringing up dialup charges when you do it ;) - $izwe says kaching!!!!
