Hi all
Been thinking of starting with a fun project which involves setting up an in house analog cable TV system that will allow me to view a certain amount of my IPTV streams on multiple devices in the house.
The issue is how would I go about getting devices cheaply which will allow network connectivity which allows loading of a playlist. I was thinking of one device per Channel, which obviously is going to be extremely expensive. I was thinking of using a camera capture card with multiple inputs, which would have been nice as it would have. Been cheap, and I could have one channel per "input" till remembered that a camera card is input, and not output which obviously is what is needed here.
Obviously then it would needed to be sent from that device to a modulator. Which isn't a problem. The markets such as Milnerton & Muizenberg are flooded with ex M-Net comcrypt 4000 decoders which have an AV input which can probably be picked up for less than R100 each. Which serve no purpose other than being ideal to convert AV to RF. So for 5 channels, 5 M-Net Decoders connected to whatever is being used to feed the signal via AV. Just need something cheap which will let me feed an IPTV signal to AV.
Thanks
