Cost of installing a network point

I need to have a network point installed in an office. CAT6 Ethernet about 60 meters of cable very uncomplicated cable route, terminated on a patch panel in the server room and a wall box in the office. No conduit needed. Question: what is a fair price to expect for this installation?
 
Whose structured cabling standard would need to be followed for the building?
And (this is equally important) what is your budget? :sneaky:
 
Materials R500 so probably R1500 as its only one point. It would reduce a lot if there were multiple points.

Where are you based? Maybe i can put you in touch with the company we use to get a proper quote. They're in Cape Town though.
 
My standard price is 850 per point, materials included. Obviously if the cable route is longer or more complicated the price changes.
 
850 to 1500 is the typical range. friend prices usually around 550ish. ex vat of course
 
Howsit guys, hope all is well. Quick question. what would one charge if only one end of Cat cable needs to be re-crimped?
So the previous company that was in the building took all their patch panels out, leaving the cable. So only one end needs to be re-crimped

Thanks for the reply - 110 cables needs RJ45 plugs put on and cable needs testing. For instance if we were getting someone to come out and do the above. What would be a reasonable price to charge for re-crimp 110 cables and test?

I'm not exactly in the networking industry, but in the IT field. You posed the question as one cable to be crimped.

For an extensive bit of work like that, I would go all in. Get a server rack, get keystones/ patch panels and get everything back into a cabinet. That would set you back a bit. But I won't be able to give an idea on costing.

Apologies for the confusion. I was referring to the opposite side where the previous company's server rack was located (Server Room). All the floor points remain intact with the keystones already in place. The only tasks left are to re-crimp all the cables in the server room and conduct testing and plug into switch.

Again we ask: where are you based? We can recommend people to quote you on it.

But it will be quite a bit of labor, especially since I highly recommend a properly numbered patch panel with patch leads to your switch. Also properly numbered and even colored patch leads to make future troubleshooting much easier.

And a proper plug and play patch panel...none of this "punch down" nonsense.
