Could a robot do your job? Short answer: yes

Uh, If nobody had any money to buy the products that these companies make, wouldn't they themselves then go broke?
Surely if robots are making everything cheaply, companies would lower the cost, so that people could afford to actually buy their products.

Companies price stuff so that people would actually buy them. If nobody is buying they simply go out of business.

But if nobody works because everyone from the factory worker to CEO has his/her job replaced by a robot, how can they afford anything?
They're all out of a job, like the guys replaced by car assembly line robots.

Nope, you can't make a robot for a particular job if you're not going to be able to make money off it... well you can, but it's not sustainable. Nobody outside of Japan wants to pay to listen to AI synth pop, trust me.

It's not AI synth pop. It's Hatsune Miku and others like Kagamine Rin..... and you can get your own synth voices here...

They even have super kawaii voices like here:

Still programmed by people. And the voices are sampled from real people too.

dude...thats barely coherent...in fact sounds dangerously schizophrenic...

Nope. Or rather by the time they manage that they'd be pretty much human level anyway.

Nope. You've said AI will just be so advanced they will appear like real people, but they're still robot/AI. Nobody said AI would have to be crude. Basically you've conceded the assertion that AI will replace every job.

Troll science... We develop an army of robots to do our jobs. We sit back, sip margaritas and laugh as our robot slaves work for us, pay our taxes and bring home our salaries. Our earnings potential is directly proportional to our investment in our personal robot crew.

That will put Elon Musk on par with that guy who lost his house in Nepal or the dude who lives in Mogadishu. Mogadishu dude will have a robot to do his laundry, fix his house, sail his yacht, nurse his children, allow him to have sex with when his wife is tired or sick, farm veggies and meat, sow his clothes, produce his entertainment and so on... :)

Most people think that robots cannot replace their jobs - however, this sort of thing takes a longtime for widespread acceptance and happens very gradually.

Eventually, whatever can be automated by a robot, will be automated.

This is around 15 mins long, but very well put together. Robots may not do everything, but if you are unsure over how much the impact of automation and robots can have, definitely give this a watch.

Sure, some jobs can be done by robots. I'm sure cybernetic surgeon robots will be superior to real people whose hands shake, who get tired, who make errors because of poor attention and so on. But to say ALL jobs will be replaced is to say all jobs will be done away with and that's a whole new economic system which I don't think is possible.

I never said all jobs would be replaced by robots. That would obviously not work - I just think that over time, whatever jobs can be done better or more efficiently by robots / software will be replaced.

On the flip side I also believe that there will be a whole lot of newer jobs in future that do not exist today. Just like many jobs that people do today that did not exist 10 or 20 years ago... So there will always be jobs. Probably just different ones.

Robots need humans. If jobs that humans previously did are no longer available, they will slot into new niches. This is nothing new, it's been happening for ages. The difference is that education has become more important. You can't just integrate into the middle tier without education. Even recently, our grandparents made stuff on instruments that were pretty simple. Today we do the same things quicker and more efficiently on more automated machines, it doesn't mean there's less work though, we are just expected to be more productive as the tools have changed.

That's pretty much it. And again - A lot of emphasis on education. Simpler folk may suffer though. Where there was plenty manual labour demand, there's likely going to be less. That said, if the price is right, robots may be the more expensive option in many cases.

Going by your formulaic examples I think such are more than possible given current AI. Basic premise plot driven by formulas which appeal to teenage kiddies. Any idiot can churn these out and so can any AI. I could even do it. As a kid I played with action figures and my plots were no worse than the current junk on TV/cinema.

We can relax and count daisies? And how is that going to pay the robot manufacturer? And energy and resources are infinite? So you want a motorboat and a home in Malibu, how is that going to work out when 20 million others want that too? This sounds like a Star Trek like BS hippie utopia. It was attempted already with the power of free (very cheap) labour - slave labour and collective farm and factory labour, and it didn't work. Those robot workers and peasants just didn't make life easier for everyone, including the idiots at the top.

Not my thoughts. That's how I understand it. I've read arguments for a world with robots doing everything for us, and humans not needing to work. I don't see such a system working in a capitalist society, but the arguments for it make pretty interesting reading.

Robots are the future, resistance is futile. Why does everyone think that Society won't evolve? If you told the people around in the time of the Wright brothers that we'd be flying everywhere in 100 years, why is it so hard to believe that in 25 from now there'll be robots everywhere?
