Attempted to download a file for Rapidshare.de and I was unable to download the file due to this error:

You have requested the file cd1_1-5.rar (43056834 Bytes). This file has been downloaded 8 times already.
IMPORTANT: Download-accelerators are only supported with a PREMIUM-Account!

This IP 196.2.127.9 is not allowed to use the free-service anymore today. We detected very extreme downloads. Don't worry! This has not to be your fault.
Maybe you use a proxy-server. Premium-users are not affected by this ban. Maybe you might want to get a PREMIUM-Account, too.
It is just a one-time fee and you will have access instantly. Please see our big FAQ, if you still have questions.

Seems like some iBurster downloaded the limit that site allows per IP per day.....which is probably the wbs proxy IP it is looking at.

Well to make a long story short they want to make money out of you by signing up for a premium account.

Yup it's the WBS proxy we all use. That site sees the same ip for everyone who uses iBurst. You can always get a proxy address from http://www.samair.ru/proxy/ and use it.

Bullsh1t. It gives that error to most people that are not on the premium account.

Happened to me here at work.

Happened to some guys in the UK who I uploaded files for.

Not an iBurst issue as far as I can tell.

You are wrong it WAS an iBurst issue as far as WBS proxy was concerned lastnight.

I downloaded from there this morning around 10am without any problems. :D

The real problem here is that WBS use a rather un-sophisticated proxy architecture.

To do transpartent proxing properly the ISP should set up their network (layer 7 redirection switch(s)) to redirect both outbound requests & inbound responses to their proxy server(s). Then they should configure their proxies to present the target web server with the original user's (not their own) IP.

In this way all web servers see your allocated IP & not the proxy's. Just piss poor network design.

With the WBS proxy you can illegally log onto a pr0n site without being detected. The site admins will only see the proxy's ip. Nice!

If this is true, why logging onto scan.sygate.com they detect my IP and not the proxy IP?

On an IP level the server sees WBS proxy's IP.

On an HTTP level, server sees the originating web browser's IP as its included as a header in the HTTP request.

Actually the WBS proxy CORRECTLY provides the X-FORWARDED IP address ... more often than not it's the lame arse sites you visit that didn't code their sites properly....

Not that I'm a fan of the way wbs have done MANY things

I know what the problem is, I can tell you how to fix it.

The fault here is what we refer to as a PEBKAC.

To fix: Take your pc back to the supplier and tell them you too stupid to own a computer.

Hey Vipor Apprentice,

None of that mate. It's a legit question. If you have nothing to add to the thread, shut up.

I have also been getting a similar problem.
I think it's the crap website.

All I can say to you Vipor .... is that you quoting Einstien is a total contradiction.

Thanx to those who helped with my concern, and for u Vipor, <censored by="ic aka adolph..." reason="too graphic"/>..
