My friend recently gave me a TV, however she did not give me a power cable, i decided to use a PC Power cable until i got round to ordering the ocrrect one(due to my bad judgement). I connected TV on Friday night, while watching, the was a loud bang and tv is not on, i noticed the TV spec says 240V, the PC power cable is 250V.

Any idea what happened ?

What could be price of repair (LG 46 inch LCD TV) ?

Any reliable TV repair places in Randburg area(with affordable prices) ?

If you heard a big bang, it is more then likely the TV is blown though using a PC power cord wouldn't have done it. It is normally just a plug not an actual power pack. Not sure on the price though, I've got a friend who repairs TVs I can PM you the number if you want.

That is the rating of the cable.
Eskom supply the voltage and define what it is.

Happened to me once couple of years ago. Opened up the TV, saw there was a blown fuse, took it to the local hardware shop and got a replacement fuse for R1.30 and it's still working today.

Try that first, still trying to find the details :-)
