I exist only in my own mind ...
The per Gig billing can be a good thing. How about if there were price bands i.e. something like (please note that the amounts are just to show differences not suggested or expected actual amounts. Also the steps could be bigger or smaller. :

0 to 10 Gb R50 / Gig
10+ to 20 Gb R60 / Gig
20+ to 100 Gb R70 / Gig
etc etc

These prices would mean that you effectively buy a Gig at a time at the rate applicable for the month. Also I have assumed that more is worse, not better (Telkom's current policy). It would be more in the normal business model if the rates went down, rather than up, but ...

This way you can manage your usage and cost, as can the ISP and SAIX.

So the more you buy, the more you pay?

Thats rather flawed?

As I said, that's what seems to fit Telkom's thinking, rather than the norm. No I don't advocate increasing rates unless the intent is to discourage the use of the product, again, this seems to be Telkom's thinking. I would do decrease rates as per normal business wholesale pricing structures.

For now, forget whether rates go up or down does the idea of sliding rates work?

If I was faced with such a billing modle I would rather have multiple acounts cause I pay less.

Water works like that. The higher the usage bracket the more it costs. This is because water is precious and they are trying to get you to save water. Is Telkom saying the same thing with data?
