I'm not really a bond fan but I remember reading that he was English and then something written in about his Scottish heritage only because the part had been taken over by Connery.

Could be wrong.

I think Elba is a really good actor and agree with whoever said Denzel is NOT the right guy for the job.
 
Christina Hendricks would have been an excellent Money Penny.
 
I don't generally care about the race of a leading character, but if a black man is chosen purely because it's considered "politically correct" or as some kind of statement or because movie execs want a pat on the back for being so "liberal" then IMHO it is actually an insult and essentially quite racist in its paternalism.

Or they consider that man to be the best for the role. Whether he's black or not.
 
I love Elba, I think he would be a fantastic choice.

Yeah he's cool enough to pull it off but is the world ready? Likely not, but I'm sure they can be dragged along kicking and screaming which is the only way really.
 
Would be interesting. Idris could pull it off. Denzel is a bit the old side now. The Equalizer was a good movie though.
