Six days left before the CAP kicks-out.

I understand that the CAP kicks-out on the
last day of every month. Then hoorah, hoorah
Telkom will let (ALLOW) me see the world again,
but for how long ?

My connectivity patterns have been changed,
it is local, local, local right now. BUT
come the first of next month - it becomes
NO local , NO LOCAL - just international,
until of course the CAP kicks in, which it
will, then it is back to local, local, local.

Hell, internet wise, we sit at the arse end of
the world and the KONTROL that surely delights
some of those at Telkom must be continuously
challenged, so that this crazy situation is
brought to an end.

LOL I can see you jumping up and down with excitement at the end of the month.

One question though, does everyone's cap meter get kicked back to "0" at the end of the month - no matter when you got connected during the month? In other words, if you get connected on the 15th of the month, do you start new at the end of the month or do you have to wait until the 15th of the next month?

still 6 days to go before the big "UNCAP"

I am told (sh$# I really hope so) that all
adsl accounts revert to zero at the beginning
of the month.

Please understand my "excitement" - this is my
first month end with ADSL. I tried to cancel,
but with zippo refund decided to see what would happen.

Well, I've now confirmed with two Telkom representatives that the cap is indeed reset at the end of the month - so lets hope this is true.

This is also my first month with ADSL so I can't wait for the reset. I've luckily been able to keep from being capped, but I'm too close for comfort at the moment.

So it seems like there will be a mass rejoicing at the end of the month :)

Can't wait either :P

Dear Telkom Internet subsbriber,

Herewith a notification to indicate that you have uploaded 4.35Gbytes and downloaded 18.92Gbytes, therefore exceeding your monthly 3.00Gbytes volume cap...

(: 3 hours of uncapped surfing soon! whooo

How did you download 18.9 gig LOL.

What i fail to understand is this. Telkom is so alarmed about people using games and p2p, but at the start of the month everybody's connection is fast enough. Nobody is affected negatively.

So why not leave it that way then?

Counting it down like new years eave

Can't wait to get back into my game, will try not hit the cap this time ... it SUCKS!!!

Also my first time on ADSL :b

By being creative (:

As for the cap - I wondered the same thing, most people do NOT seem annoyed the first few days in a month, and surely that's when it all gets flatlined SAIX-wise.

Does SAIX buy extra b/w the first 10-15 days or the month? Doubtfull.

Then I guess it means it they do it because they can. :P

5 DAYS TO GO - before Telkom opens the world to RSA

quite ridiculous !!

It's still all local

4 days to go.

yeh local has some lekker resources
but the big wide world has it all !
so, I have almost nothing - but on
the horizons - Telkom permitting it
will be available to me soon -
what a joke !!

you are all to blame for Telkoms thievery...by subscribing to the service and accepting the 3 gig cap you are just validating the fact you are all suckers to telkom..

they would think twice about the cap if they could not sell the service after the investment they have made in the infrastructure..

by subscribing you are shooting yourselves in the foot and screwing it up for everbody else, and then you all still come here to complain about it

south africa has yet to discover the power of the consumer .. at the moment you are all just bent over the table happily taking it up the butt

SAD SAD SAD SAD SAD

Some of actually NEED high speed access in order to work!

So we are not suckers! Just a user community that is FORCED to subscribe to a pisspoor service offered by a monopoly because we HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE!

You refer to the power of the consumer - quite right - consumer perogative is very powerfull IF ONE HAS A CHOICE OF PROVIDERS...

The only answer to our woes is a systematic and total deregulation of the telco industry in SA.

By the way do you have a telephone at home?

Yip, unfortunately most of us cannot make do with two tin cans connected by a piece of fishing line.

bah .. you all did just fine up until a year ago when adsl was introduced..saying you need it for business is a justification to make yourself feel better for being ripped off...

we do have a choice indeed.. dont subscribe to adsl until they remove the cap.. simple .. do you honestly think that a second provider is going to offer you a service without a cap ? they can see that the south african public is quite happy with paying money for a third rate service, so why offer anyithing different ? they are here to make money, and they will not change the way things work until they start losing money.. simple economics.....
i dont see the cell phone companies undercutting each other drasticly, do you ? they are all priced exactly the same, with the exception of the odd special every now and then..

yes i have a telephone line, but my telephone line does not not stop working after i have made 100 calls on it either .. plus i only pay R50 a month for my phone line .. not R800+

justify it as mouch as you like .. but as long as you keep subscribing and telkom keeps making its shareholders happy with FAT profits, things will not change..

think about it..

3 days to go before the ridiculous cap ends

Telkom have replied :

They have opened a channel but don't want Karel's
email published - Is this reasonable ??

Actually, I got Steve's email address from a Telkom supervisor -
sent him one message - and decided not to publish his address, I
think that's respectful.

Now Steve wants to cap our language - oh dear, oh dear !

Steve get down to business and fix the cap blunder and
of course fix the other major issues such as ports etc.

local is not so bitter [V]

OK, 150gig, all of us here stop using ADSL, what bout the rest that use it for surfing and dont ever reach a cap, simple home users. They will be enought to let Telkom continue like it does anycase.

It all boils down to one thing. Get more members for this forum.

If we have the numbers then it would be possible to threaten Telkom with an immediate cancellation in all our services. Then they would be more inclined to listen.

We get more and more members every day.

I truly think that Telkom is regarding us a defenite threat, even if they will not admit it. They can not wish us away, so they will have to deal with our issues in a respectful way.
