Hi guys (and girls) out there...

I have somehow lost my Counter Strike Source box and activation key, cant remember what my steam account name and password is and the e-mail account I registered mt Steam account on has long since been deactivated cos I changed ISP's.

What do I do now cos I have my CD and My pc got messed up so I formatted and I installed CS Source and now I cant do a thing cos I cant activate it...

Please tell me what to do...

You are really in a dilemma. Had this once with a Nephew of mine who thought it clever to change his password and then forgot it. We eventually lost that Key after much deliberation.
I have all the necessary Steam Logon Details and Passwords written in my Half Life 2 Box. You get the option to print it after activation.
In my case the logons are all email addresses.

By the sounds of it you are in a similar position. Have you been to Steam Support to see if there is perhaps another method to retrieve your account details?

In future make a backup of your whole Valve Folder. Mine is currently 7.25Gb.
Sorry I cannot help, but see if there is a method through Steam Support to get those details using just the CD Key, although I have a similar deja vu feeling as I think I tried back then and never got a response from Steam. Too long ago to remember now.
Hope you get sorted so I can frag your @rse. :D

Edit: Had a quick look on Steam. There is a CD Key Reset Process. Would this not do the trick?

A CD Key Reset Process requires you to send in a scanned copy of your CD Key

Hey again

I contacted Steam directly, not via any support center or anything and they sent me back a few questions asking me the exact right things to get my account back.

I remember I was too young to register myself so it was registered under my dad's name. I gave them the address of my house in Jo'burg (clever me, I still remember it after 5 years of not being there) and my dads age and birth date etc etc.

All they replied with was:
"That's it, you're all done. Please log on to Steam with your existing Steam account *name here* with this password *password here*"
