Countries to immigrate to as an engineer?

Hi,

Anyone know of which countries it would be easy to immigrate to without much experience?(engineering - telecoms, electronic) I'm sick of trying to get somewhere in SA and get told the usual 'yes but you don't have experience' crap.

Was thinking Argentina or Chile maybe..? Anyone know of agencies though which to do this? I'm not too concerned with salary beyond being able to afford basics to live. I just can't do another year unemployment and computer science stuff is ok but it drives me to insanity and being in cpt i get abused like crazy.

How much experience do you have?
I know places in Dubai etc looking for engineers, pref with very little experience. The packages arent too shabby in the beginning either.

How so?
 
Check out NZ...they've got fairly chilled immigration processes & you get a passport pretty soon. Not sure how the employment side is.

I'd recommend against a non-english country though...from what I hear its rough enough without a language barrier.

Lol my one friends dad is Argentinian and moved here (studied chemical engineering).Try the US OF A.

I am just an intermediary. So as to why they dont want you trained up I dont know. I suspect it might be to do more with salary, but im not sure. I do know they offer quite an extensive training programme once you are there. I qualified as an electrical engineer in 2006 and was offered the opportunity. I turned it down whilst some friends took it.
They seem to be doing fairly well (as long as you dont get home sick).

I will get more details about it and post it here, I have the guy on G talk.

Sounds interesting. Got my B.Tech in '06 as well. Waiting to hear if my Pr.Tech status has been awarded now... Apparently we scale quite high on the NZ immigration points list.

Well you cant immigrate to Dubai, you can go work there but they will send you packing at the end of the day.

I never mentioned immigration, i just said I know a place that is looking to hire engineers there.

I know I am just pointing the fact out as the OP asked for immigration and I see other people looking at it 2. Its a grate step to get some money and then look for immigration options.

fair enough, although, i think he just means he is willing to leave the country to get decent work
 
It doesn't matter where you go in the world, you're going to hit the same problem with experience except it's even more difficult to emigrate without experience. Most countries won't give you a work permit without a certain level of experience and most companies won't go through the considerable hassle of sponsoring a work permit for you unless you're incredibly good at what you do and have the experience to back it up.

There are no shortcuts I'm afraid, you're just going to have to start at the bottom like everyone else.

This... speaking from experience (excuse the pun).

Either continue studying postgrad on a bursary (very good idea) or go to GP (almost no work for electronic engineers in CT). I'm currently doing both but I got really lucky (exceptional boss).
 
Try applying at one of the vendors (Alcatel, Siemens, Huawei, ZTE) or network support companies (Qualcomm, Atio etc)
They generally have people from all over the world and send you to different countries depending on when you are needed.
Otherwise just keep looking at the Telecoms companies, they sometimes do offer positions for jnr engineers, when they looking to train people up.
 
Middle East, they love South Africans and pay you a ton of cash
