You can go back right back to the beginning of history to see the "right" resisting innovation, resistance to the internet, television, radio, the introduction of motor vehicles you can go back far as Socrates who argued against the merits of the newly found technology that was writing at that time.

Progressives (left) are the ones that develop and adopt new ideas driving mankind forward, conservatives (right) are the ones that resist change and innovation because most new ideas aren't good ideas thus keeping society stable.

I some times like to check myself that my views are not extreme or something bad. When I see people disagree with me it is important (for me) to try and reason out their position. Maybe I can learn something. Maybe I am wrong(very unlikely, but it happens.)

Then I see you guys unironically support Antifa. This makes it really easy for me.

It’s pretty obvious that names are just names and really have no significance to the group or what they represent. Just like how the Proud Boys have nothing to be proud of.

You need a balance.

Conservativism, keeping stuff the same, doing what works, works.
Ìt is a evolutionary survival mechanism.
And there is a reason why some stuff work. We don't have to change everything and anything. Not all progress is forward or good. That's why you need conservatives to say, hold on a moment, are you sure this is a good idea? Before some radical lefty progressives implement their ideal utopian society and kill a few million people in the process.

Unlike the Catholics who rampaged across Europe setting entire towns to the flame because of heresy?

Pack your fear of change and progress up. Pack it all up. Then take it somewhere. Take it out for dinner or maybe the beach. But get it the fark out of the way.

Yeah too conservative and you end up like the Amish and too much liberalism you'll end up with a hippie commume were everybody shares everything and sleeps under stars (essentially homeless)

Btw. I would not consider myself conservative.

I think it is a bad position, ideologically if you hold it just for the sake of it.

Being conservative just for conservatism's sake is just as bad as being progressive for no other reason than "progress". It's two sides of the same coin.

That's why I prefer to view myself as Libertarian. It is more of a principled position.

Edit no.2. Those Catholics were progressives. They took culture to the barbarians.

Bringing the progressives Catholics of the middle ages into the discussion is the very definition of whataboutism.

And a perfect example of why progress for the sake of progress is bad. Maybe those barbarians enjoyed their outdated barbaric culture. There was no need to force progress on them with violence.

As for your historic revisionism with catholics vs barbarians- you are utterly without a clue here.

It's the barbarians that came to the Catholics and it seems the barbarians brought their culture to the Romans. I don't see a any Italians wearing any togas instead they are all wearing the barbarian pants.
