Now did this couple move to the quiet seaside town on the advice of a certain troll here?

Couple murdered in Kleinmond

The stabbed bodies of an elderly married couple have been found in their home in the seaside village of Kleinmond in the Western Cape.

Time the ruling party started reigning in their bum chums.

I would take a chance and dare to say there's been more murders in 1 year in NZ than there has been in Kleinmond in 10 years.

I would take a chance and dare say that NZ is a COUNTRY and KLEINMOND is a SMALL TOWN.

How about comparing apples with apples!

Yeah this couple should've just avoided the unsafe areas! What were they doing in their .. um ... home.</sarcasm>

It's only valid to compare homicides per capita per annum, let's give it a go ...

According to this site the population of Kleinmond is 5200. Two people killed makes the per-capita murder rate AT MINIMUM 38.5 per 100,000. The per-capita murder rate of New Zealand is 1.11524 per 100,000.

So even assuming that these will be the only murders in Kleinmond for the year, you are still 35 times safer in NZ.

But still not completely safe in NZ. What if you are that 1.11524 out of the 100,000?

My point is, you can go on arguing about 35x vs 1x safer here or there, the point is, I would still be fine with 38.5 per 100,000, than to run away to the arse end of the world with no friends and family, live there depressed and sacrifice my culture and home country, just because it is 35x safer and I get free medical aid. Whopee!

For me, it has to be really bad before I would leave my home country, the country of my birth, where I can still practice my culture and have tons of family and friends around me. They would all have to be raped & slaughtered, with their guts spatting on my face, and ambushes behind every rock and bush, before I would make the sacrifice and jump ship.

Wow man, OK, it's hard to get clearer than that. But everyone has their own "threshold" for what level of risk and problems they are able or willing to tolerate ... it just seems you're on the far end of the spectrum.
