A five-year-old child was allowed to re-enter and remain in South Africa following an intervention by the Western Cape High Court, after being declared indefinitely undesirable, the Saturday Star reported.
The girl, the daughter of a high-ranking United Nations official, was barred from re-entering South Africa as a result of new immigration regulations, the newspaper reported.
The girl was the only member of her family not to have permanent residency as she was born in the United States in 2008.
According to the report, she lived in South Africa on a visitor's visa, which expired 115 days before she and her family left for Turkey on holiday.
When leaving South Africa on June 24, they were told while passing through passport control that the girl had been declared undesirable.
The family were expected to return from Turkey on Sunday.
The girl's re-entry into South Africa was subject to conditions prescribed by the home affairs department, with the court ruling occurring on Friday.
The regulations, which came into effect in May, introduce a new visa regime for South Africa.
It outlines a clear distinction between short-stay visas and long-stay permanent residence permits.
It also stipulates that visa applications need to be made by applicants in person, and those wanting to change the status of their visa can no longer do so in South Africa but have to do so at missions abroad.
