Your coverage area is very problematic as can been as here:

It is possible that an antennae will improve your speed? I assume you are using a desktop modem?
 
I'm currently using a usb modem with an external antennae. The resection is fair to good here (Between 70% and 95% constant). But what bothers me is the slow speeds I'm experiencing, while others claim to get closer to 1mb/s.

USB modems have half the signal strength than a desktop modem and thus are better suited for good coverage areas.
 
So what you are telling me is even if I have "good" signal (70 to 90%) thats not good enough to get faster speeds?
