i just bought the dongle and im not getting coverage in my area? i live in Northern suburbs. Plattekloof/Edgemead?!

I'm in Brackenfell. Put the dongle in and get reception. Coverage good. As soon as I connect then I get kicked off after a few seconds.

Moved the laptop 30cm from where it was and now I get decent HSPA speeds. Funny stuff these reception issues.

From your speedtest post I see you are saying you are in Welgelegen. I know from my Vodacom experience there is a coverage problem with that area because the residents have objected to all the proposed sites for towers. Cell C might very well have the same problem. Look at finding the best position in your house for signal or invest in an external antenna.

While your uplink does look bad, I could live with the downlink. Better position combined with a router or antenna could sort that out.

What exactly are you seeing? Are you getting no signal at all, or are you only seeing the green light on the modem and not the blue light?

Ah, OK. I'd say you'd definitely benefit from an external antenna, go and visit PoyntingDirect in Montague Gardens. Be sure to get an inductive coupler.
