Morning all. Anybody know where I can get cow skulls from. Some people have suggested abattoirs. Not having any joy there. I know most cattle farmers have a section of their farm where they dispose of carcasses - so I'm looking for some insider info on anybody that has such a farm (or anybody have contact details of a friend that has such)? Taxidermists sell exotics and their prices are too high end for my means.

I use them to make art pieces.

When death becomes art...

Do that with a human skull and all hell breaks lose.

It's beautiful, Skeptic_SA.

I don't see why it wouldn't still be beautiful if the skull were human. After all, there's no-one living in it anymore, is there?

I'd LOVE to be able to legally do a human skull. SO MANY ideas drifting around in my own skull for that project. Sadly the moral and legal implications would make a tad inopportune. But if somebody bequeathed me theirs... I would gladly do a memorial piece.

Is that one of yours?

I might me able to give you something like a kudu or maybe a blesbok skull later in the year, if you want (depends on what happens on the hunt). I go purely for the meat so normally leave a skull or 2 behind and since I hunt with a bow the skull will be undamaged. They wont be very clean though.

Check out the local sangomas for human skulls - they probably have a few lying around.

That would be AWESOME Jouda. Work is in an industrial estate in the middle of nowhere... I usually leave the heads (those that people have been generous to give me) on the tin roof of our workshop. Far from anybodies eyes or noses. A month later its just a matter of peeling off dry hardened skin and voila...

I am guessing all the bone gets processed into bonemeal for plants and dogs.

Cool, cant guarantee anything but Ill do my best :) will PM you if I am successful.

No its not. Mine are relatively similar. I bleach the bones bright white with 10% peroxide and then cover them with blue glow in the dark blue powder.

My first one. Found a pic on Twitter...

That's amazing! What about butchers, I'm sure one could arrange a skull or two for you?
