I created a free site for someone and I'm now at the registering a domain part but I'm not totally sure of how to do it.

I have the site hosted at www.awardspace.net under one of their .atwebpages.com/ domains at the moment.

What are the next steps, and what do I put under organisation if its for a private person?

You Need to update the DNS. (link the two)

If you have a site XXX.awardspace.net and you have registered a domain name ABC.com then you need to log into the admin area at the website you registered the ABC.com with. There should be a C Name record setting. If you add www and forward it to XXX.awardspace.net it should work.

PS.It can take up to 48 hours for the DNS the propagate though the whole internet.

Sorry just read you haven't registered the domain yet and it is a co.za. domain.

Your web host is a UK company so probably cannot register a co.za domain directly from their site. You could contact their support and find out but I don't think they can.

When registering co.za you have to specify the DNS server names as Uniforum who manages co.za do not have DNS servers themselves so it looks like you will have to use a 3rd party South African ISP to register the co.za name and then use their DNS servers to forward to the awardspace.net subdomain.

I use the awardspace free hosting. (I assume you're doing the same) Its great but you cant forward any messages- so I hope you dont have an online contact form

Use your friends name or his blogs name.

in the spaces marked: Server FQDN
use
ns1.awardspace.com
ns2.awardspace.com
ns3.awardspace.com
ns4.awardspace.com

Thanks guys,

As far as I can see I need to register the domain using the NS that ave posted and then add it through the cpanel to the awardspace free account.
