So I went to MTN Fourways to see how much it is to cancel my MTN Contract. I'm on the Anytime 100 Package with the iPhone 4 8GB. After calling the call center, a rude lady said to me the iphone 4 (not S) is R8000 and I will need to pay about R8600 to cancel the contract.

That is shocking. I read somewhere about the fees being in the region of R1500 + current usage. I think it's a way to scare off customers.

How do I go about reporting these monkeys?

Reporting them for what...

They're within the law, they're allowed to charge a reasonable cancellation fee.. the reasonable aspect hasn't been defined yet.

How much is the deal, i think this is a recent special at like r300. How long you in as well.

R279 a month. Upgraded (more like downgraded in Jan). I was on Anytime 350 before and that was fine. I never spent over R500 a month. On this stupid Anytime 100... my next debit is R800+

Anytime is one fixed price at anytime (no off peak rates), and expensive at that.

Anyway, you trying to get out of a recent contract. R8600 seems kind of reasonable, if that covers the recent hardware you also received.

Since you upgraded, you probably did so at 20 months, means u then had 28 months left on contract.
24 x R300 is R7200.
Sorry dude, but dont know how u think R1500 at the start of a contract is reasonable.

Its perfectly reasonable since you've just upgraded...

Anyway, even if you only had 1 month left on the contract R8600 would be perfectly legal... since there is no definition of "reasonable" ... whether its right or not is actually irrelevant.
