cPanel which is a Unix based web hosting control panel and is used by probably millions of hosting companies, including Mweb.
Now, how on earth is it possible for them (cPanel) to override all cPanel users settings, by blacklist all Google Ip's.
This just does not make sense to me, as nobody will be able to do a successful SEO on their Google ratings.
Please help me understand this correctly as I am really a noob when trying to interpreted the following:-
"Our Unix guys has whitelisted these IP addresses on the server but they have advised that the CBL of spamhaus supersedes our own server rules in cPanel.
It has thus been escalated to cPanel themselves to provide a response/solution."
Am I missing something here, or am I on a ride?

Its Linux based. Not Unix based. (Though apparently it can also run on BSD, though I am not sure that this is still supported) . If someone is saying it is Unix based and is in IT you should probably replace them.

They havent blacklisted all or any of Google`s IPs.

If the server you are on is not managed correctly then a spammer can spam from there. This gets THAT mweb server black listed. This has nothing to do with unix, cpanel or Google.

Then we have to get in contact with Wiki (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CPanel) where the first line reads:-
"cPanel is a Unix based web hosting control panel that provides a graphical interface and automation tools designed to simplify the process of hosting a web site. cPanel utilizes a 3 tier structure that provides capabilities for administrators, resellers, and end-user website owners to control the various aspects of website and server administration through a standard web browser. "
Then also, can it takes 15day to get this sorted out.
I have spend months and hundreds of Rands on SEO to get on the first page of Google, and now does not even appears within the first 3000 pages as the site is just not getting crawled, and this is really leading to losing income here?
I have ask to move to the Windows server because of this, as this is the second time this is happening to us.

Mweb probably blocked the IP's, not cPanel. cPanel (http://www.cpanel.net) only develops the control panel, they don't manage your server. You, or Mweb should do it.

If your server is blacklisted for spam, it could take a few months or longer to remove it. Best would be to speak to Mweb about this.

Hi Rudi,
I have been spoken to them for more than two weeks now.
Nobody seems to be able to resolve this.
1) Yes, Mweb manage that part of the server.
2) Server is not blacklisted for spam.
3)Have you read my first post regarding cPanel supersedes their servers?

That indicates that spamhaus has the server IP listed as being a spam host.
You should probably look at getting that sorted out first. If the machine is a shared host(which it most likely is) then its possible that someone else got the IP listed which just compounds your problem.

That is just poor wording on Wiki. Its not unix based. Linux, the operating system is runs on is unix-LIKE... but its not unix.

Okay

AFAIK, you dont lose rank for spamming. You lose rank for cheating.

Well, cpanel is the best hosting controller, so you will be going backwards.

I have endless **** with Spamhaus blocking our Google Apps (gmail SMTP) servers because obviously a lot of SPAM gets sent from Gmail as a free service as well.

So maybe they just copy their blacklisting?

It no longer supports BSD, they tried Windows and dumped that. It mainly runs on Cent-OS
15 days is more than enough to lose a client base...
SEO is not impacted by spam, also the SEO algorithm has changed over the last month or so.
While CPanel is great, for someone like me... its just bloat, but I understand not everyone sits in the basement.

If you want to stop spam build your own outbound relay that actually scans outgoing mail.... and for all that is holy... dont assume AMAVIS will be the way.

The funny thing is, their is an error log in cPanel, Mweb surely have access to this error log.
If you ping -a the Ip's, even MSNbot, etc and even my own IP from my other server with ParadigmSolutions is getting blocked.
I am just so fed-up, and yes, I know going to windows server might be backwards, but I need to get business, and to get that, I need to be listed/indexed on Google.
Just please give me some guidance here as to what I must do?

Have you spoken to any server admins / level3 support staff about this?
1) Yes, Mweb manage that part of the server.
Do you have root access to the server?
Is it a dedicated server, or shared server?
2) Server is not blacklisted for spam.
Have you checked all the spam blacklisting companies, and all the IP's on the server?
3)Have you read my first post regarding cPanel supersedes their servers?
Please, elaborate, "supersedes their servers"? Who's servers are superseded, and how?

It seems a lot of Google IP addresses landed up on Spamhaus blacklists recently.

The white listings that are added in a cPanel system would take preference over any blacklists that are being checked provided they set it up correctly. We've setup the correct whitelists on our side and don't experience these issues.

@ OP, If you're still struggling drop me a PM and I'll assist further.
