you can check compatibility on their website but I have an E8400 running on a gigabyte G31 at home with no issues.

Well that depends on what you had before!
Mine is an E8400 on the G31 and I have 3GB of ram, its *terrible* with 1GB but runs very nicely with 3GB. I use it as an htpc connected to my tv, but my wife also plays games on it and its not slow at all.

If you click on that link you will see the supported processor list, the E8400 is definitely supported.
