CPU Cooler

What is the temperature difference?

I got a Q6850 Quad extreme the other day with a flipping stock cooler.. was idling at 50'C. Put it on, with stock paste you get with and its dropped 15'C when idling. That was with the stock thermal paste and I have 3x 12mm fans one coming on on the front, one out at the back and one sucking out the GPU heat. Read the reviews, the Arctic Cooler might look crappy, but it gets the job done.

Its cheap, go here: http://www.digitaladdiction.co.za/p...50201&osCsid=fd449342c2ac03afb9f4d1071b1c0f4c

Its on special for the next 2 days! R250 for that performance, you can't go wrong.

um, how does thermal paste work and how do I apply it? where can it be bought?
thanks

It works by being the conducter between your CPU and your CPU block, drawing as much heat away from the CPU and transferring it into the block. Applying it? hmmm it snot all that easy the first time. Get it from most decent PC shops, just not sure which one is the best.

In terms of a cooler, I have a special on my Freezer 7 Pro coolers at the moment, normally R349 and now R249 ... they are decent ... not as strong at an Ultra 120, but less then half the price.

If you take the Ultra 120 with a good fan, its more like 1/4 the price.

I just read the review and the Cooler cannot be mounted on a motherboard that is vertically mounted?
And mine is
"The only negative parts of the cooler probably are the somewhat large size (although the size shouldn’t be a problem inside any normal ATX case), and that the cooler cannot perform with the motherboard placed vertically. This makes the cooler useless for mounting inside HTPC cases, although I doubt that it would even fit due to the size anyway."

Which? The Thermalright?

is 50 degrees a good temp? Im using the program CoreTemp..
Its that temperature in Idle.
Is it worth getting a cooler?

What is your TJMAX setting on Coretemp? Remember it should be 100 for a E8400. Between 40-50 (Idle to Load) is fine.

 NO!

that's not fine, its high

below 40 is fine (if you are in this ct summer)

my cpu idles at 39degrees during midday when ambient temp is above 30
