I have one of these from my old PC ... only the chip.

Is it worth something? Or better off throwing it away?

worth selling? definitely not. you MIGHT get R50 for it imo.

if you could find a cheap or second hand mobo, memory ect it'd be worth more using it in a computer that you can use as a media server, or something like that...

That chip can still run a XP PC perfectly well, so if you have use for it then rather do what tian said.

Otherwise hopefully you need 100 or so gold pins. :)

Dude, i'll give you 30 bux for it.

Does it work?

U in CT?

Hey Dolby, hope you're well - do you know what model it is and what socket i.e. Socket 370 - what is printed/labeled on the chip, i.e. 1000A/256/100/1.475 or CELERON SL5ZF?

Cheers,
HB

Heya Howard!

It says ...

Intel (m) (c) '02
Celeron (r)
2 GHZ /128/400
SL6VY Philippines

I'm sure it's not fantastic ;) Perhaps I'll try source a cheap/used motherboard and build something.

Heya Dolby,

Many thanks for the info - it won't fit in the board I have (socket 370) I think that's a socket 478 chip, based on the SL6VY number - you should try bidorbuy.co.za for a second-hand board to build something - a 2ghz cpu should make a decent internet/media server...

Cheers!
HB

I sold my old 2Ghz celeron in a complete mini tower for R800 a few months ago:) That was after taking out the dvd writer and graphics card and sticking it into my new machine:D
