Hi Guys bit of a newbie.

My mobo fried so gonna buy me a new pc.
Had a AMD 3700+ 64 bit processor bought it 4-5 years ago.

So have a good box, and my old GPU Nvidia 8800gts.

So looking for an i7 now taking a break from AMD.

Anyone help me with the price of a good i7 and mobo and ram. and give me a model number and details please.
My Budget is R 5-7k

So looking form something decent.:D

thx again

Get a LGA1366 setup, your budget allows it

I7 920 R2.6k or so
MSI X58 Pro-E R2k or so
6GB kit of OCZ 1600MHz RAM R1.8k

Sell your old hardware and add a little more cash for a good gpu

howzit,

sorry to hi-jack the thread but i just wanna confirm something.

i currently have this mobo :
http://www.foxconnchannel.com/product/Motherboards/detail_spec.aspx?ID=en-us0000172

It is quite old and the site says it supports the following CPU's :
Processor: AMD Sempron™, Athlon™ 64, Athlon™ 64x2, Athlon™ 64FX processors,
Socket AM2

now I'm wondering will this support phenom chips?
Dont really have cash to buy a new mobo + cpu.. but if worse comes to worse i guess i have to.. budget maybe around R2k
