My temp on my cpu is jumping around. The one minute its running fine on 5 degrees & the next moment its on 255 degrees for about 2-5 seconds and then it goes back to 5 degrees for 10 seconds. I have a Asus P5KC motherboard & I have a Pentium E6750 CPU. The fan I have on is a Cooler Master Hyper TX. Can anyone please advise me on what the problem might be.

Thx in advance for the advice.

Regards.

Well I've never seen a CPU temp at 5c ... and ur CPU would've cooked at 255c so chances are the sensor on your board is "no more good" !!

If you have enough thermal grease and you can touch the heatsink and it's feels cool or a little warm under full load then all is probably OK.

Well I did touch it & its fine actually cold. So I guess its the sensor gone wrong is there any way I can disable it ?
Well my buddy has same rig as mine with the same cooler just a better box & his cpu temp is at idle between 1-2 degrees & under work load its 17 degrees.
Mine under heavy work load is running between 18-20 degrees never been over 20 degrees.
I think its the cooler very impressed with it ?

You CANNOT go below ambient on air cooling. That's physically impossible.

Well I dont think my bios is lying & its called face change cooling its not normal aircooling. I'm installing speedfan tonight & I'll check if it gives me same results ?

Do you mean Phase Change? Should be possible to achieve these temps with an actual Phase Change Cooler but the Cooler Master Hyper TX can not lower temps below ambient temps.

But I have achieved temos of -30 deg idle and -7 under load - with a Vapochill......

It's your sensor or a software problem I think..

The Cooler Master Hyper TX is not phase change cooling, it's normal air cooling with heatpipes (you will not reach 1-2c with that cooler and if you did condensation would build up and what happens next if obvious). Check the link and if that is what you're using then your BIOS / motherboard is giving you incorrect temp readings (actually even if you are using phase change cooling you're getting incorrect temp readings) if your CPU reached 255c it would be dead.

When a heatsink is cold to the touch it isn't always good (infact it's normally bad) it could mean that it isn't seated properly so it isn't conducting the heat.

Check the motherboards forum and search for other people having the same problem, if not make a new post. There's a chance a new BIOS version will sort out bad temp readings.

the onyl way u could get 1-2 degree is with nitrogen hahahahaahah

u seen those hectic pipes with nitrogen in them?

thats what u need :)
