This is a good reason to sell it and buy AMD.

A64 3200 under full load only runs 39-45 degrees celcius.

k removed old thermal compound (rather gunky) new thin layer of thermal compound added.

installed fan that sucks from the front of box (blower)

did some burning temp never went above 52%

Either it's fixed or it was just hot yesterday

I would say the termal paste was the main issue.

Also, the best air flow for a case is usually "in at the front bottom" and "out at the back top", so that the heat from the CPU goes out by the shortest path and so that the natural tendency of hot air to rise is used, so you might want to change the fan orientation or location to get this flow.
