Hi guys!

So what is normal CPU temperature while gaming?

Mine goes up to 55 degrees max more or less. Is this too high?

Thats fine, max temp for your chip is 100 degrees iirc. Are you testing with prime95 or intelburntest, or only with games?

Only with games running at full specs.

So I should be fine? Is it normal for the North- and South Bridge to run at higher temps?

Usually yes, though they should also not be going too far over 70 degrees. Do you have sufficient airflow across your motherboard? And games running full tilt is not a good measure of max CPU temps.

Yup, got the whole ATX standard airflow setup in my box.

They don't go over 60 degrees.

I know that games aren't a good measure, but that's what I use it for so no need to push it unnaturally :p

Thanks for info :)

Ya dont worry mine hits 70 under burntest. And games it sits about 55 as well..

Run Furmark and Prime95 for an hour and watch the temps. This will give you a decent indication of what max temps your system will reach.

Cool, I'll try that over the weekend.

Think I should add an additional fan on the side panel for the motherboard anyway. Just to be sure it has decent airflow.

Intelburntest gets higher temps than prime95 (and is a better stabilty test), run that with furmark to get max temps

I get at most 5 DegC above ambient. gotta love water-cooling :D
Generally you would want to keep the chip below 70 DegC. It can run higher but it's going to start affecting longevity.

Intel Stock coolers suck! I lapped my CPU, OC'd it to 3.0ghz (Q6600 = 2.4ghz stock) and popped on a coolermaster V8. I run cooler now than stock speeds with intel cooler. Used to peak at about 70C, now I might get to about 55C.

The V8 is quite a strange beast actually. I find that the heatpipes only start conducting around 40°C. So in winter (ambient temp of 18°) my max temp is around 45°, and in summer (ambient temp 25-30°) it maxes out at 47-50°.

anything below the junction temp if you look at it from an engineer's point of view. Nowadays that's anywhere from 90 to 110 :)
