CPU upgrade for old LGA775 Mobo

Hi guys,

I'm wanting to upgrade my machine but not really in the market for a complete overall now. Buying a new TV :o

Currently have a Duo Core 2.2 in it. I want to upgrade the CPU and the GPU. Currently still have a 9600GT.
Any idea on which would be best bang for buck when it comes to the LGA775?

I know. I'm planning on building a decent machine from scratch. Just not at the moment thought. Best I could squeeze out now will probably be around R 3k. Around August I should be able to have a spare R 12k on a new rig.
 
Do you even get decent AGP cards anymore?
I think you could most likely only go for quad core.

R4k could get you an i5 system off of gumtree, carb or even here.
 
It's running just about all the games I play but it's starting to lose the battle now...
 
I have been looking for a system for my son and found quite a few decent i5 systems for around 4k and under.

I can build an Epic i5 or i7 Machine in August though. I honestly don't mind a good i5 machine. But I'm looking at building something that should last the next couple of years at least. a Good GPU alone now is about R 8k
 
LOL, why would you feel the need to buy an 8k gpu?

You can build an i5 that will last another 4 years and then just add a GPU for maybe 3k.

Hell no I would never :D Just saying GPUs are insanely priced. My biggest problem though is I want a Mobo that won't disappear in the next 4 years and of which more CPUs will be made for. Currently that is the LGA1150 right? Maybe something like the Z97 from Asus? That should last a very good couple of years yea?
