Crackdown freezing

Decided to give Crackdown another go after completing it nearly a year ago, but on starting the game it gets as far as the main menu and attempts to load saved data, but just freezes up (the Xbox icon continues to spin and everything is hunky dory with the hardware itself)

The disc is free of scratches and works in my brother's newly acquired Arcade. I've tried everything incl. deleting the saved games and DLC as well as clearing the console's cache, but nothing works

Gave the issue a quick Googling and discovered it is a known issue, but couldn't find any solutions...anybody know of one?

Are there any updates available for it?
What about updating your Xbox's firmware?

Got the latest firmware (from the NXE update) and had Crackdown updated to the latest version incl. all of the extra downloadable content until I cleared my cache (which kills all updates) as a last ditch attempt to try get it to work

Aaaaaah, that sucks.

Reminds me of when I updated my LittleBigPlanet.

Telkom decided to give me an anal probe while I was downloading it..
