Ok guys/gals;

[I hope this is the right section to share my grievance, but I really need advice]

Beginning of July I bought Fifa09 for PS3 for R560 from BT Games. Now I really enjoy the game and I am also very aware of the price, so I've been handling this disc really carefully. Today I looked at the disc and there is a crack in it. The crack starts from the centre and at this stage it has not reached the information part yet, so is still playable.

Obviously I am very pissed off with this. I have never ever broken a disk in this manner. I've scratched discs yes, but not cracked them. And definitely not from the centre.

So I phoned BT games believing that I might have gotten a broken disc to begin with. Perhaps the 1 in 10 000 disc that was weaker than the rest. BT games do not want to hear anything about this. It is understandable that they wouldn't want replace broken discs after 1 month in a random person's possession. But really now..

So my question is: How do I get my money back? Do I have any protection for being sold a weak disc which was destined to break after the 1 week returns period?

2nd prize answer: Is it possible to fix the disc? Super-glue or something.

This sucks big time.

Technically you should be able to get a replacement disk from the manufacturer..
After all what you paid for was the license to play the game not the physical disk.

I remember having a game on a couple of cd's when they first came out, 7th guest or something like that, and one broke the same way you said. I mailed the manufacturer (Virgin I think) and they posted me a replacement!

+1
Most publishers have a 90-day guarantee on the disc against defects. I know EA has been doing this since the early 90s.

Guys/Gals;

I've been silly. There is a 90 day warranty. Requires some effort with postage etc, but at least I can fix this problem.

Thanks for your help.
