I cracked the lcd of my Nikon s8200 camera. Please does anyone know where I can get it fixed and for how much?

Getting the parts yourself looks like it wouldn't necessarily end up being too expensive, but with the variety of strikes in SA right now it might never arrive. An item I ordered from Hong Kong still hasn't arrived two months later after another item from a sister company arrived in 10d>.

Google about for sites that offer replacement parts, look for ones that allow you to buy using PayPal, compare the total cost to a local store that services digital cameras such as CameraTek and consider which you'd rather go with to try and get it repaired.

have you bothered to contact nikon to see what they say?

ok its not a nikon, but I cracked my powershot screen, totally my fault, camera was in my pocket and so were my keys. anyhow booked into Canon and they replaced it gratis, no charge, go figure, camera was still under warranty but it wasn't a warranty fault.

anyhow its worth giving nikon a call, just to hear what they have to say.

Guess there's that, too. Kinda figured the op would've contacted them before trying to find some other place to get it repaired.

Yeah I did. I was quoted about a thousand rand excluding VAT and delivery charges.

Never thought to check with them before, but it looks like you can get a replacement screen from dealextreme if you haven't already gotten your camera repaired.
Just keep in mind that shipping can take a few months depending on whether or not customs feel like being dicks and holding items up for no good reason.
