Cracked PES2010 blueray disc

Hello.

I need some help and advice. I purchased the pes2010 for the ps3 from btgames in durban on the 31/10. Having used the game for about 10 times at maximum I noticed that ps3 was having trouble reading it yday. On inspection of the disc I have noticed that there is a tiny crack from the inner ring of the disc, propably about 3mm.

What can I do? The disc is less than 30 days old. BT games are of no help as it is older then 7 days.
I am the only one that handled this disc, my pes2009 lasted me for an entire year and no other games of mine has any damage to them.

I do not want to go and purchase another disc as surely you are paying for the license to use the game when you buy it and there should be more than a 7 days warranty on the disc.

I did phone ster kinekor, the call centre manager said he would speak to a 3rd party and get back to me today, but has not as yet. I am confident that this crack is no thru abuse and I am even willing to take the disc to SABS to test the disc quality if I have to.

Can someone please offer any advise as to what other options I have?

Lol, don't often see the word cracked when it isn't referring to a pirated game. I think you should push hard at SK if they are the distributors of the game, you OWN the game, not the faulty piece of optical media it comes on. It seems Microsoft are a lot more accommodating when it comes to these types of faults but then again the earlier Xboxes used to eat discs.
 
If you have an option to install the game to HDD you could also try that, it will decrease future use and wear a lot.
 
Surely that shouldn't make a difference if it is just on the inner ring?

I've had a cd shatter in a drive once and a shard of plastic flew across the room, yeah those discs can spin pretty fast, thats why when it comes to cracked discs I dont like to risk it
 
Didn't Mythbusters do an segment on that phenomenon? Can't remember if it was confirmed or busted though.
 
I had the same problem with FIFA 09 last year. Also used it for about a month and the disk stopped working because it was cracked.

The thing is, an entire batch of those disks were faulty. BT didn't help, SK didn't help, but after I gave EA a call, they replaced the disk with a brand new one. Although the @ssholes did charge me R 150 for the "handling". Still better than paying R 500 or 600 for a new game though.

Maybe try to find out who distributes PES and contact them directly?
 
I have heard a disk chatter in a drive once. It was used for a lot of Win NT installations, and was a bit overused. It did have tiny cracks right around the inner rim.

SK distributes konami.
 
It seems I may have a resolution on this soon. I did contact konami but have not had a response as yet. I will update on this once I have final confirmation from sk. BT have been of no help and had a do not care attitude. I will not purchase from them again.

Blue ray discs spin a lot faster than any of the other types of media. Any small crack will eventually lead to a failure of the intergrity of the disc and I cannot risk it shattering in my ps3. However the crack did spread to the readable area of the disc. I assume that is why the ps3 will not read the disc.
