Packets: Sent = 20, Received = 20, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:

normally I get 350-400 :eek:

Using uunet

Thats crazy low!

I did the same ping on my iburst connection now. it was also very low for my Iburst. Sticking around 450ms most of the time. I hardly ever get that good that for international sites. it must be a very fast hosted site.

And Iburst also get their bandwidth through Verizon (UUNET) so it makes sense. ANyone on SAIX or IS have good pings?

What site is it btw?

hmm.. then agina some peopel get arounf 450 normaly from Iburst, maby im just having a good day.
Ja, I just pinged google.co.uk, pretty similar, but a bit higher. My american link seems to have higher average latency, a shame. it sits in high 500's and even some 600's these days. Well busines hours that is.

used to be lower.

Now wouldn't be a good time to mention my 17yo brothers in Germany get a 70 ping to the US with their uncapped 2 meg line they pay using some of their pocket money...? :)

I'm on SAIX, it pings at about 400-412ms, average 411 for me.

I'd also like to know what site it is?

On SAIX:

Not very inspiring. That's what I get to the MyADSL forums. :p

IS is always bad internationally. I've never seen mine go below about 600 to anywhere.

Realy? Is IS that bad? never under 600..

Oh and thanks black mesa, realy what we need to drive us over the edge to suicide.

To MyADSL:
Minimum = 196ms, Maximum = 222ms, Average = 203ms

To Google.co.uk:
Minimum = 440ms, Maximum = 447ms, Average = 442ms

Just thought it be interesting, no one posts crappy 56K pings. :D

Hey those international pings are better than Iburst man. Only gatecrasher and a few others (I think) get much better pings than that dial-up score on iburst.

But local is killed of course.

Okay at least I beat the UK ADSL by about 200ms to myadsl. hahah, but that is in Cape Town, right by me.

Doesn't matter if it's right next to you, the packet might get routed via jhb to dbn to cpt before it reaches the destination next to you. That's cos nobody uses the lowest hop counts to deliver packets anymore ;) Routers now typically use the spanning tree algorithm to determine the OSPF. Much more efficient and reliable when delivering a packet from end to end destination.

Using UUNET -

--- 212.187.247.222 ping statistics ---
10 packets transmitted, 8 packets received, 20% packet loss
round-trip min/avg/max/stddev = 710.274/746.057/778.982/20.032 ms

That is an improvement on the usual 40-50% packet loss.

That IP I posted is a server in Battlefield Vietnam server in what looks like the UK.

If I ping this IP, 66.36.231.131, which is another game server but in USA I get:

Ping statistics for 66.36.231.131:
Packets: Sent = 20, Received = 20, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 298ms, Maximum = 364ms, Average = 305ms

305 to USA! whoah! :eek:

Well it doesnt in this case. Mybroadband.co.za is the fastest site for me to ping. Always, even faster than the cape gateway somehow.

And all JHB sites have a noticable increase in ping.

Oh and Razor, those pings are amazing, you even went under 300ms for USA!! wow.. now if this is where Iburst get their bandwidth it shows that we couldhave some of the best international pings in the country, beating ADSL easily.
If Iburst just bought more quality bandwidth and maby dropped the other sattelite providers..
