If you have 2 seperate HDD's with let's say 1. Windows XP the other Vista, while you in Windows XP can anyone see your Vista files while on line? and is there a way of protecting them? and how?...

Ive got pretty much the same setup...Only if the drives or folders are shared .
Ive lan,d my 5 pc`s at home and transfer stuff from mu lan pc`s to the Master all the time.
Have to actually share everything before its possible to transfer so I believe the answer to your question is no.Unless you have allowed sharing.

You're being rather vague. Are you asking if people can see the Vista files from over the internet while you've booted into XP (saying while "on line" implies this)?

The hard drive will work like any other hard drive because XP and Vista use the same file system(s), though if you encrypted any files using a feature in Vista you probably won't be able to use them from XP. Otherwise it's just another hard drive.

Yup that's exactly what I'm asking! but makes sense The only way I see keeping your drive private is by encrypting the whole drive! but I assume can become a chore at the end of the day! correct?

You could user TrueCrypt.org it's free software and can encrypt an entire drive. Though since you're worried about people accessing the drive from over the internet using a good firewall is the best bet and disable any shared folders etc, as if you access any of the encrypted contents while your computer is compromised "they" could also have access.
