Hi guys,

Hoping someone could offer some advice...

My landlord doesn't have an ADSL line installed yet and I do, he wants to use my internet and we half the costs which I'm fine with. Is there any way I can allocate a certain amount of data per IP address/MAC Address from my router or is this better done via software? I have a D-link DSL-2760U,

Thanks,
:)

Why not let him get his own account and dial through you?

Just remember to QOS or you might be stuck with someone that is always maxing the line...

How would I do the first? My router is connected to my ADSL account so anyone connect to the router is using my data...
How do I QOS?

I would recommending getting an uncapped line. If you split the line then you will be paying less and you would not have to worry about getting capped. Thats how I did it with my landlady and other tenant.

this, no better option then getting uncapped and just half monthly costs if they agree.

Did it with students in Grahamstown, otherwise the landlords that paid for the line and we sold them prepaid data to dial in PPPoE

What is QOS and how does it work?

I think it will work out best for the moment for me to just share my current capped account with him as I don't often use all my cap in a month and I don't think he is a heavy user...

Okay, I found QoS on my router but don't know which setting to choose...
Any advise? Still don't know exactly what it does though...
