After much delay even though I had a copy of windows 8 lying around I decided to upgrade windows 7 to windows 8. Everything worked great until it came to my sound.
Problem:
- Sound quality poor
- All custom settings were lost after a reboot
After much frustration of having to change the settings each time. I left the PC to take a break. On returning the pc was in sleep mode. I resumed and the settings were fine. I did a reboot and the settings were fine. I did several reboots and the settings were fine. I could not believe this. I was so surprised that I did a re installation of Windows 8.
Once I set all the Creative settings I put the machine into sleep mode and did a reboot. Well believe it or not the settings were intact.
I can only suggest that you try this with other cards provided you have the windows 8 driver. If you have similar problems as to me with the driver, just put the machine into sleep mode. As easy as that
