Has anyone had any experience logging disputes with credit bureaus? How long does the process usually take and if they agree with you do they fix your score immediately? I'm asking as I never really looked at my score but recently I did and it was poor and it was because I was supposedly in arrears for the last 2 years (despite paying on time all the time and never using more than 50% of my credit card limit (recently been keeping it below 25%). I think this may be due to one of the closed accounts on my profile. I'm dealing with mycreditcheck/compuscan. Thanks!

Haven't done it myself, but I it didn't strike me as particularly problematic.

I'd image pakka is right in that first talk to the party in question before launching into a formal dispute. Always good to start with a peaceful solution first...

Pretty sure they value using it & paying it off regularly higher. e.g. On my amex I know the limit is roughly 3x the highest balance I've paid off fully in the last 6 months or something. (not same as credit score but you get the drift)

There is a cred record expert on the forum here...forgot who it was though.

Disputes can take up to 20 business days to be finalised.

You will need a copy of your ID and proof of address.

Once they have provided you with a reference number, they will investigate and provide feedback in writing, along with an updated copy of your credit report, if any changes were made.

Yes, give the Credit Bureau 20 work days (aka a month) to fix it.

If they don't respond after that period has passed or your not happy because their reason to not fix it is bad or whatever, then http://www.creditombud.org.za/ is your next step.
