I bought something last week and I noticed today the balance on my cc was increased.

Did the calculations and that purchase looks to be reversed.

Do I leave it and let the bank sort it out?

Find out why. After all, the contract of sale is between you and the merchant. If you bought something from someone the onus is on you to pay, not your bank. If your bank didn't carry out your payment instruction, that's between you and your bank - the other party (seller) shouldn't the affected. Follow up with your bankers.

The transaction went through, it's just that it got reversed. Nothing on transaction history about the reversal.

Will phone through tomorrow.

First world problems. I would suggest you do what feels right.
Yeah I definitely have to pay, just wondering if the bank would automatically sort it out.

Similar happened to me with hertz....they called me a couple weeks later saying I owed them. True enough not payment reflected in my statement.

The merchant probably did not "bank" the transaction within the specific time period, hence the amount was reversed. The authorisation should still be valid and when the merchant does bank the transaction it will reflect on your statement. My view, no action required from you. Merchant will figure it out and process in due course.

Thanks.

This was a massive problem for me recently.

My fiancé and I had a trip booked on the Shosholoza Meyl in a sleeper coach from Cape Town to JHB at the end of our holiday, as the train trip is quite something.

Recently I noticed that my card had a larger amount available than it should, and I found the money that was supposed to be used for the tickets.

I contacted Shosholoza Meyl and my tickets have been voided and are now all sold out - not a word was said to me and if I hadn't noticed by the odd chance that I did, we would have been stranded on Cape Town station with invalid tickets.
