This month my Telkom bill shows a large credit which totally baffles me. See below. Anyone know what this is for??

Not really. We had some intermittent problems in December. Logged a call. They never came out and the problem went away. Then last week a guy popped by (3 weeks later!) saying he came to check the line and didn't find anything wrong.

In that case there must have been a "bulk" fault that affected quite a few residents in your exchange area. As you also logged a fault, Telkom will give you credit from the time of the first fault report (even by another resident) until the time the fault was cleared on their system.

Hmmm. If that is true then it's good news. :) But I would hate for them to reverse this credit at a later date and give me a bill shock in a future month!

That will not happen. The service interruption credit is applied automatically when line faults or major faults are created and includes even cents as it is time calculated.

You might have not experienced actual down time but degraded speeds also count.
