I have played the demo and I like it. The graphics looks better, rendered in the same engine they used for Rugby 2005, and the AI seems to be improved.
The demo is very short so I cant really say for sure if it's going to be better than cricket 2004.

I was reading July's Edition of NAG and apparently the Canadian EA studio is doing it - which is good news since they were the ones responsible for Rugby 2005 - which let's be honest was better than '04.
