Whew! There's an appeal for mankading here. Jos Buttler is the man in question. Ashwin is having a heated argument with Buttler and on replays he's clearly out of the crease and guess what! He's been given out. This is not good IMO. Don't remember any warning given to Buttler and he is absolutely livid walking back to the dressing room. Absolutely red-faced and letting out a few expletives too. The crowd aren't happy either and I'm sure this is going to be one of the talking points of this IPL. Ashwin paused before the delivery stride and took the bails of nonchalantly. Buttler was stumped by the gesture and he tried to have a chat with Ashwin and got what seemed like a very harsh response from Ash who kept yelling that 'you are not in the crease and you've been upsetting my rhythm' The more the replays the more Buttler seem less guilty, he was just casually ambling forward and there were no signs to nab an unfair advantage

Clever from Ashwin. Butler was winning the game for rajasthan. Its within the rules.

Agree it’s within the rules, but Ashwin was really late on the action. Buttler was within his ground when the ballshould have been delivered.

For me it's a dead ball, Buttler is still in(behind) the crease when Ashwin pulled out of his bowling stride.

Yeah, Ash looks like he waited for Buttler to drift out before stumping. Dead ball for me too.
 
Didn't look in the spirit of the game, but then there are many things not in the spirit of the game that the umpires can do jack-**** about.

Non-striker leaving crease before striker makes contact with the ball is at a distinct advantage on the first run. So the odd mankad is of no consequence to me.
 
Batsmen isn't allowed to leave the crease before the bowler has bowled. Ashwin hasn't bowled so for me butler is in the wrong. He is not watching the bowler and playing to the rules.

Is it within the spirit of the game? Debatable.

It is clever gamesmanship from Ashwin.
