Cricket : IPL 2019

And CSK takes it, but a close one in the end. Stokes and Archer almost took the game away from them.

And Tahir had a cracker once again.

I see no one commented on my rant against de Villiers :p.

He used to be my favorite player. When he decided to pick and choose tests, then retire altogether he lost my respect. I'm a nobody, so doesn't matter all that much.

Yes, he is an extremely talented player. But, he still has a monkey on his back. Like with Kallis before he scored a test double century.

To me, "spending more time with the family" is just facade for "I want more money". Realistically, he's playing 5 or 6 T20 competitions a year, so how much time does that free up compared to a playing for SA? Man up and just say it: I want more money.

Gayle went T20 exclusive a while ago. His form went down and he came close to not being picked for the IPL. What's the result? You see him back in the WI ODI lineup.

To me personally, no competition is bigger than playing for your country. I'm not a sports person, so I don't know what it's like to be in that setup. Just my opinion.

Getting back to the monkey on his back - he can't perform in high pressure situations.

@AirWolf AB played 100 test straight so I think we can cut him a little slack after 10-12 years of service. With regards to the spending more time with his family this was definitely an excuse. The previous World Cup and the politics involved (PLaying Philander instead of Abott) was the straw that broke the Camels back. Don't think Ab ever really recovered form that and hey maybe he will play for us in the next T20 world cup.

I seem to remember almost single handedly taking RCB to the IPL finals a couple years back

Did he win the final for them is the important question.
If it wasn't for AB they would'nt of even been in the final. Expecting 2 extra ordinary performances in a row is simply asking too much of a player.

I.e. best player to never win anything.

Good thing he's in Kohli's team - deer in the head lights seems to be rubbing off.
That IPL was Virat Kohli's to lose. All he needed to do was to ensure he reached 1000 runs in the season ended up being dismissed 27 runs short. The IPL was layed on a silver platter for him but he and his team choked.RCB are probably the biggest chokers in sport, they are bigger bigger chokers than the Proteas and even bigger chokers than the Sharks
