CRICKET: SA v India

Also had a great team to captain: Donald, De Villiers, MacMillan, Pollock, Boucher, Kallis (when he bowled and batted like a demon), Cullinan, Ntini (to an extent at the time), Kirsten, Hudson etc.

and gibbs and boje ;) who were supposedly also involved with the match fixing......

As for every bodies opinion on Graeme Smith.

He scored 3 fifties in his last 3 innings (58, 94, 55), the last 2 in a game that we were destined to lose (according to a cr@p load of people) under immense pressure from the public, the media and, I am sure himself.

He was in shocking form and took a lot of flack from everywhere, then he came back and won us the series. Even got a man of the match for his efforts.

Stats wise, and I know stats does not prove too much, he is one of our best, and am slowly starting too make it on to the tops in the word (became the second youngest test batsmen behind Tendulkar to get to 4000 test runs).

I am not his biggest fan by far, but if you can not see what he brings to the team, both as captain and as an extremely talented batsmen, then I am not sure you will ever be able to appreciate good cricket.

Every batsmen goes through bad patches and slumps in form, it is how you come through it that matters, and 3 fifties on a row, is not too bad if you ask me.

Would you drop Tendulkar or Dravid after this series?

It was only the second series ever where Dravid did not score a fifty, so according to your logic he must go?

Lets hope his good run continues and he does what he is supposed to do, in the position he was chosen for.

I still think Ashwell prince should've been man of the series,
but ok... Polly wasn't a bad choice either...

I guess Polly gave a more all round performance, making big impacts with both bat and ball.

Looked like Polly also thought Prince should be Man of the Series, the way he spoke about Prince at the post match presentation.

If there is a man of the season, then it should be Prince.
The amount of runs he scored this season speaks for itself. He's been the rock amidst the faltering pieces around him.

as the commentator said.......it would have been nice to give it to Prince rather than to pollock who was won countless man of the series......

Just to throw more fuel on the Smith fire...

Proteas' captain Graeme Smith has jumped 10 places in the latest ICC Player Rankings for Test batsmen following his man of the match contribution of 94 and 55 in the third Test against India at Newlands in Cape Town.

The left-handed Smith is now back in the top 20, holding 18th position after putting a slump in batting form resoundingly behind him at Newlands.
