CRICKET: SA v India

I'm losing faith in Mickey Arthur...since he started our batting is getting weaker and weaker. Looks like our batsmen have talent but they don't have any technique anymore.

Yeah! I thought he had the temperament. But you're right the textbook part is missing. Others have succeeded without it, but not that often. Jonty comes to mind!
 
Jonty always wanted to rotate strike...Amla wants to get into it first. Just like Rudolph that elad to his downfall...they have defensive technique but when it comes to runs, it's a diff story.

The introduction of contracted batting coaches (who are previous batsmen) for some batsmen is also not very clever. Previous players becoming coaches have never really been a good idea, especially since being a teacher does not come naturally. I also think the science of batting is something employed heavily in Aus, but overlooked here in SA. In Aus, there are several technical coaches who have various Sports Science qualifications, and a lot of the training the youngsters receive there are coupled with scientific research. I think we're more than a little behind on that here...

Gary Kirsten another.

Jonty put the team first in everything he did, and he took on every task with enthusiasm and a do-not-say-die attitude, whether he was 12th man or feeding the strike to one of the openers. That attitude went missing out of SA cricket when he left.

Well look beyond that and u get the admin...if that doesnt change nothing will...these power hungry idiots really need to back off and use their minds to choose a decent management team, players and start decent academies. not just for players but for coaching as well...

Yeah. I mentioned before that we do not have spinners coming through because of a lack of coaches and people able to identify a potentially brilliant spinner. This is at school level where good coaches need to be employed. The UCB has enough money.

I KNOW AMLA has had a really poor time of it. but i think its a matter of 1 good innings. His technique isnt perfect but if u watch him in provincial cricket, hes one of the best batsmen we have in the country. Its a matter of confidence. Hes unbelievably talented and score so freely its scary. However like u said his technique is not good against the moving ball. Same can be said abt gibbs.

I hope sa thinks a bit and bats him at no.5.
He will be such a waste of talent if he doesnt perform........
Was watchign him a couple of months ago play for natal.. he was so comfortable and he was playing against quality bowlers...
hes prolific in domestic but cant convert. Jaque kallis was the same wen he started but look at him now. Infact jacque had even worse of a start.... Although jacque did have a much better defensive tecnique

Nah, there probably won't be much play after tea... and tomorrow is the last day and we probably won't get a full day either. We also don't have a spinner to use up overs :/
 
280 for india to chase might be a bit low...maybe at 310...quick fire after lunch and declare one hour after lunch...

and rendan...if u look it Smith is prob way better than Amla. Seems like you not giving smith enough credit for what he does...when Amla has an average of like 25 or less it's ok but when smith has average of 48 it's not acceptable...
 
smith has been there for a while now.... hes shown us what he can do.And i agree hes done a lot.. but you cant say hes a better player than amla yet.....

I think give Amla another 2 tests. If he doesnt play well then drop him..
One thing i have a problem with is that if amla goes now, hell never come back.And i mean never. Even if he scores millions of runs domestically. And hes only 22 or 23 or something like that.

I know I'm being a little harsh on smith :D but he needs to be taught a lesson.. arrogant b4stard. If Amla fails another 2 or 3 tests drop him.And i never said drop smith before world cup/.... Its better for sa if he stays there for now.................. but for someone whos played for so long, averages of 22 and 28 against decent opposition arent great at all.

But please, please make amla bat no.5 in all those tests. If he plays against asif and shoib and gul at no.3 he'll be made to look like a fool. his technique is still raw. needs to get some confidence under his belt.
 
i think Pollock n hall know how important is to get runs, thats y they stayin in n not throwing there wicket away...

200 up...come on just 60 more runs and we will be safe and will have a chance of winning...polly should just crack it.
